Soraya North
Soraya North is a player character in the White Rose online campaign played by Erin McRae. She is 27 years old, 5'7" tall, and has black hair and brown eyes.

History
Early Life
Soraya was born in Macha on Libra 6, 1570, the only child of Steppan and Adalia Braun. She attended elementary and secondary school in her home district of Redmay. After graduating high school she enrolled in Loomlocke College, a division of Auriga University in 1588 to study - at her father's insistence - liberal arts. Soraya herself, however, much preferred artistic endeavors, and devoted much of her spare time to personal art projects. Glass was her favorite medium, and she designed and created several decorative stained glass pieces during her university career. None of her early artwork is known to have survived.
In 1590, to steer Soraya's attention away from her art projects and toward more practical pursuits, Steppan arranged for his daughter to take an internship at the University's district newspaper, the Illume Free Press. It was here that she met David North, a young feature writer. The two began dating, and became engaged the following year.
Marriage and the Blackout
Soraya and David were married on 1 Cancer, 1592, and moved into a house they had bought in Misthere District. Soraya was offered a job by the Illume Free Press, the paper she had interned with, and worked covering community and political events. For over a year life for the young couple was good.
With the Blackout, however, everything changed. David, a reserve member of the Covert Battalion, was called for duty in the first round of Margravine Thorn drafts in Scorpio 1594. Soraya, left alone, continued her work at the Illume.
Thanks to the Blackout Soraya had no contact with her husband, except by heavily-censored letter, until Virgo 8 1595, when David arrived unexpectedly back at their house. Disillusioned by the war and the entire Machan military-industrial complex, he had deserted the Thorns.
Resistance
David's desertion marked the beginning of Soraya's involvement in the Machan resistance movement. David quickly became involved in the preliminary resistance; he fought in (and survived) the Purge, and afterward joined Briar Fell as a member of Sapphire Nine. Soraya assisted him, stealing paper and ink from the Illume for the nascent underground press and using her connections at the paper to keep an ear out for sympathizers. From David she learned to operate and repair technical and military equipment, and helped him smuggle weapons to Briar Fell's operatives.
Soon Soraya discovered she was pregnant; though she and David were happy and excited, they also worried about bringing a child into the dangerous world they now lived in.
On 15 Pisces, 1595, tragedy struck: David and his team were ambushed by Thorns during an operation, and David was killed by the very unit he deserted. Soraya, now six months pregnant, was grief-stricken; she dropped most of her resistance contacts and remained only peripherally involved, operating under a codename to protect her identity
On Gemini 3 her daughter, Eliza, was born. Adalia moved in to Soraya's home to help care for her daughter and granddaughter.
Campaign Role
The Secretary
In Leo of 1596, Soraya, through her connections at the Illume, landed an interview for a job as secretary to Simon Auriga, and worked for him for the next year and a half - while stealing information and passing it to the resistance.
In Sagittarius 1597 Soraya was once again approached by the resistance, through family friend and former Sapphire Nine member Blaine Durant. Appealing to her desire to secure a better future for her daughter, Blaine convinces Soraya to join the Order of the White Rose. She does so, determined both complete David's unfinished work and to avenge his death.
She attends the introductory meeting of the White Rose, where she meets some of the men and women who will become her colleagues. Though irritated by the lofty rhetoric of the group's leader, Malcom Troy, she agrees to remain a part of the group and helps plan the White Rose's debut: an attack on the Halcyon Library of Auriga University.
The operation is the first Soraya ever participated in; though she was involved in the resistance in varying degrees for years, it had always been as a supplier, smuggling supplies and providing haven for fugitives. She is neither practiced nor confident in her new, more violent role, as she and a small group maneuver the labyrinth beneath the Halcyon Library to plant explosives. A mild animosity develops between Soraya and fellow White Rose recruit Sasha Durnovo.
The following morning, Troy introduces Soraya, Sasha, and White Rose's third new recruit, Matthew Shepard, to the leaders of Briar Fell, on the rooftop of Briar Fell's headquarters - in view of the doomed Halcyon library.
