History
Kaelri suffered from amnesia from the outset of the campaign. His only clue to his past identity was the following letter, written in Elvish, which found on his person after waking up:
From the Priestess of the Harvest Moon
Kaelri, you have known for a long time that you were destined for a great trial and victory. We have had disturbing visions, and we believe that your time to save our temple our people, and the very world from certain destruction is at hand. Be careful, and seek guidance of the human King Elken and his wife, Queen Alleria. They are powerful and wise, and know the ways of the world. Journey to Alakari, their great fortress, and collect news. Remember the symbol of our people. It is often worn on a necklace by elves. If they approach you with the necklace in plain sight, and with a ruby ring, they have urgent news for you, and you must listen to them. I do not trust your newfound friend, the Rogue, so do not let him hear what these messengers must say. Remember, Elken and Alleria can give you direction. Also, be wary of the Monastery Treegate. Be careful when trodding in their woods, for the Monastery is full of Druids and Rangers and Monks. Do not go there unless you must seek help. They may help a friend of the forest. Above all, avoid the Wirs. Their nomadic tribes have been on a warpath, and are being controlled by a vampire known as Loc. Kaelri, savior of our temple, go to Alakari. And be wary.
During the opening attack on Alakari, Kaelri was tasked with delivering a message to King Elken, which required him to seek out the king while traveling covertly through the rafters of the besieged castle. Failing his first Spot check, Kaelri mistook the large, "bear-like" silhouette of the king for an actual bear.
Description
Kaelri stood six feet tall and weighed 115 pounds, typical for an elf of his young age. He had green hair and black eyes, and was always seen in a long black cloak, suitable for impractical billowing. He was typically armed with twin rapiers, a quarterstaff (which was used as a walking stick), a longbow augmented with a variety of enchantments, and a magic ring capable of controlling the element of water; he also, notably, toted one hundred and ninety two individual wooden arrows by the end of his career.
Relationships
As a ranger, Kaelri was continuously accompanied by his animal familiar, a wolf he named Erine. He also took a young half-elvish orphan, Limmathi, under his wing, purchasing her a matching black cloak.
Etymology
Kaelri is the only character whose name is taken directly from his player's pseudonym. The name originally belonged to a character in the fictional Atlèan mythology, which would later be loosely adapted to provide the setting of the Peninsula campaign. Other than the name, the characters have no connection.
